In the past, I put a lot of pressure on myself to grow my skills. And if I wasn’t working to get better, than I must be getting worse.
Ultimately, this mindset caused more anxiety than advancement.
Then one day while reading the scriptures, I realized that I am not the source of my skills — God is.
In Exodus 31:3-5 we see, “3 I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. 4 He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. 5 He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft!”
I realized that being filled with the Spirit also means that I’m skilled with the Spirit. And although I still steward my gifts, I’m relying more on my God and less on myself.
So if you have been striving to grow your skills, I want you to consider the source. Seek God and ask that you would be skilled with the Spirit.
