A few weeks ago I was on an airplane and we encountered a storm. The turbulence was rough and I could see lightening through the window. Needless to say the tension was tangible. After a few wide turns the pilot came over the intercom and announced we would be diverted to a different airport.

Some passengers were relieved, others were upset. Regardless the pilot knew information that we didn’t and we had to trust his judgement. His decision might have saved us from serious trouble.

God is omniscient — He knows everything. This allows Him to navigate us from troubles into His perfect will. But only if we’re willing to trust Him.

The Benefits of Trusting Jesus

Security

Daniel 6:23

23 The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

God is your ultimate security — He unshakeable and unmovable. When you anchor your life to Jesus Christ no situation can leave you overtaken. You may be tempted to put your security in people, possessions or money but all these things will fail you. Jesus Christ is the only one who is fully trustworthy.

Success

2 Kings 18:5

5 Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before or after his time.

When you trust God and allow Him to be your source you will become successful. He endows you with favor and blessings. You will begin to carry a grace that is magnetic and attractive to the world. Any success found outside of the Lord will eventually be unfulfilling and most likely short lived.

Straight Paths

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Just like my airplane story from earlier, we can’t always trust our own judgement because of a limited perspective. However, the Lord has an eternal perspective of your life and knows exactly how to get you to your destiny. Know that the path He will take you on won’t always make sense but it will always pan out.

Trusting God isn’t easy. If it was, everyone would do it.

If you can learn to let go and trust God you will find a sense of peace and assurance as you navigate the unknown areas of your life and walk into your divine destiny.
